Making a Difference
On Sunday, 17 October, under the banner that working together committed people can make a difference, St Joseph’s College Geelong, in conjunction with the College Parents & Friends Association, held a highly successful High Tea & Fashion Parade at Balmoral Receptions, Geelong. The event was well supported by a number of local Geelong businesses and fashion houses.
The St Joseph’s College community has supported the work of the Christian Brothers in East Africa for many years. Money raised from the High Tea & Fashion Parade will be going towards St Joseph’s ongoing support for the Ruben Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, where the College community has already contributed to the building of the Ruben Medical Clinic and the Ruben Primary School. Ruben Centre is located on the edge of the Mukuru slums, which house about 600,000 people, about 10 km from central Nairobi.
The funds raised by the St Joseph’s community will make a real difference, through the Ruben Centre’s programs, to the health and education of many Mukuru residents.
