Formal Education
Edmund Rice Ministries Foundation, Philippines Inc
In Cebu City’s informal settlements, parents want to provide for their families—but without skills or education, they remain trapped in poverty.
This initiative delivers accredited courses – like masonry, electrical work and beauty services – with mentoring, financial literacy, and job placement support.

Together, we can help lift families from poverty through education.
Families living in Cebu City’s informal settlements want to work and provide for their families. But they lack education and recognised skills. This keeps many trapped in poverty.
The Sustainable Livelihoods through Education Empowerment Project (S.L.E.E.P.), led by Edmund Rice Ministries Foundation, Philippines Inc., gives adults living in poverty the chance to learn practical, job-ready skills and build a secure future.
S.L.E.E.P. provides short-courses courses in high demand vocations:
Participants receive training and support, including mentoring, financial literacy training, and values-based formation. After training, they are linked to employers and guided through job placement and retention.
The project also encourages savings habits and financial independence, helping families move towards lasting stability.

With your support, families in Cebu City can gain the skills, confidence, and opportunity break the cycle of poverty and build a better life.
