In partnership with ERFA , a series of trainings have been offered to women through the Women’s Empowerment and SILC Project at partner program Mirror of Hope in Nairobi.

The supports women living in Kibera, where the trainings have been instrumental in supporting viable business. As a result, more women continue to start businesses as a way of sustaining their lives. The project has given women a platform during meetings for them to exchange business ideas and, as a result, more women who solely depended on casual jobs and their spouses for financial support have deviated from that.

The SILC project to date has been able to reach  370 women with different trainings. Of the first cohort of 150 women 148 are operating successful businesses with many employing others. Additionally, 25 women have been trained as trainers and are working with others in Kibera, significantly increasing the reach of the project and its success.
