About

In Mukuru, poverty, gender-based violence, and lack of information puts children and adolescents at serious risk of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Strengthening child protection systems and community awareness is vital to keeping young people safe.

The Ruben Centre Advocacy Project promotes child rights, protection, and adolescent well-being through education, advocacy, and community action.

The project focuses on:

  • > Empowering parents, youth, and local leaders to prevent, and respond to child abuse and exploitation
  • > Strengthening safeguarding systems through staff training and accountability
  • > Sexual and reproductive health education to reduce teenage pregnancy and support informed decision-making
  • > Community outreach via radio broadcasts and social media to encourage dialogue and collective responsibility

By building knowledge, confidence, and accountability at every level, the project creates safer environments for young people to grow and thrive.

Your support helps make Mukuru a place where children and young people are safe, respected, and supported to reach their full potential.
