Aliyah has a successful cafeteria in a market place in Yambio. But, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Her initial business collapsed because she lacked skills. Aliyah joined the SILC training and micro finance program at Star Support Group (SSG) where she learnt the stock control, financial management and customer services skills needed to run a small business. She took out a small loan and restarted her cafeteria.

Aliyah now has the ability to pay school fees and medical expenses for her children. She also employs four women in her business and this is great for their families too. Aliyah says she has found it easy to manage the loan repayments which, once repaid to SSG, will be available to help others start or grow their businesses

STAR Support Group supports people in Yambio area living with HIV/AIDS.
I am so happy and thankful for ERFA for teaching us how to plan, work and plant vanilla in the correct way.

1 in 3 children in Western Kenya cannot read a single word.

As we head towards the end of the financial year, your gift can help children learn, read and thrive.

In rural western Kenya, classrooms are overcrowded, teachers are untrained and under-supported, and children are leaving school unable to read, leaving them disadvantaged for life.

But, with your help, this can change.

With improved teacher training, better literacy support and safer classrooms, children can gain the foundational skills they need to succeed at school and beyond.

Your support this tax time will help train teachers, strengthen schools and help thousands of children learn to read with confidence.
