Across Edmund Rice schools around the country, students are stepping behind the camera with purpose, and the results are nothing short of inspiring.
As part of Doco in a Day, students are challenged to plan, film and edit a short documentary in just one day, tackling powerful global issues such as access to education. With only one school day and a shared sense of purpose, students are rising to the challenge — producing short films that are insightful, passionate, and deeply moving.
This year’s submissions showcase the creativity, courage and compassion of our young changemakers. Each documentary is a testament to the values that underpin Edmund Rice Foundation: presence, compassion and liberation.
But Doco in a Day isn’t just about creating films. It’s about making a real-world impact. Students are also raising funds to support Edmund Rice Foundation projects across East and Southern Africa, Australia, the Philippines and Timor Leste — projects that provide life-changing access to education and opportunities for those who need it most.

“We’re so proud of what the students have created,” says CEO, Bren Arkinstall.
“They’ve shown us that storytelling is not just an art — it’s a force for justice.”
Together, we can help turn their creativity into opportunity — and bring education within reach for communities across the globe.
