About

In Mukuru, many residents lack access to reliable information about safety, rights, and essential services. This leaves issues like gender-based violence unaddressed, accountability weak and support services underutilised.

The Ruben Centre Radio Project uses community broadcasting to inform, connect, and empower residents, turning information into action.

The project focuses on:

  • > Preventing sexual and gender-based violence: Sharing clear information on prevention, referral pathways, and reporting mechanisms
  • > Promoting good governance: Facilitating civic dialogue that encourages transparency, participation, and accountability
  • > Connecting people to services: Publicising Ruben Centre’s health, education, and advocacy programs

To ensure responsible storytelling, the project trains local journalists in ethical and sensitive reporting, strengthening accurate coverage of community issues while protecting dignity and safety.

Your support helps amplify local voices, spread life-saving information, and build a stronger, safer community in Mukuru.
