Project Update:

Sustainable Farming Practices

Eldoret, Kenya

  • Edmund Rice Dairies

The Growing Strong Project at Edmund Rice Dairies extends beyond just milk production. Installation of a biodigester at the projects inception supports sustainable farming by transforming organic waste into biogas. The subsequent nutrient-rich bio-slurry is used to promote soil heath for the farm, improving crop production.

The process is simple but powerful

  • – waste is used to fuel biogas production
  • – biogas fuels milk production
  • – biogas fuels cooking in the boarding house
  • – biogas fuels cooking at Eddie’s Cafe
  • – slurry from the biodigester improves soil health

Looking Ahead

Your partnership is helping transform the community of Embulbul. Students at Edmund Rice Catholic Education Centre learn sustainable, urban farming methods to share with their families while the revenue from milk sales and the cafe fund school operations.

By supporting this project, you’re helping children gain access to education, shaping a more resilient community for generations.
