Two new projects we are supporting in 2021 are taking major strides in the development and advocacy of women’s rights.

The Mbokodo Project provides empowerment, self-defence, and mental health support for victims of rape and gender-based violence. The Ntsika yeThemba Project adopts the same objective of eliminating GBV, aiming its educational focus instead at young men.

In combination, the projects are a refreshing strategy for how to respond to and prevent GBV. Crucially, by involving men in the process, these projects abandon the damaging implication that GBV is a woman’s responsibility.

Both projects are spearheaded by the inspirational team at The Justice Desk in South Africa.
